Odoo daily sales report on WhatsApp: your numbers every morning, by WhatsApp or email

An Odoo daily sales report on WhatsApp or by email: sales, money in and out, overdue customers, bank, POS and stock, sent to the owner on schedule.

Most owners do not want to log in to Odoo every morning to see how yesterday went; they want an Odoo daily sales report on WhatsApp. Did we sell more than last week? Who still owes us? Is the till right? It is all in Odoo, spread across several apps and reports, so the owner messages the accountant every day instead.

That is why we built WhatsApp Business Digest, a paid Odoo add-on that sends that report on WhatsApp or as an Odoo email digest, daily, weekly or monthly, plus a summary of every POS session the moment it closes. The answer arrives before anyone asks.

What arrives, and when

Each digest you create in Odoo sets:

  • When: every day, every week on a weekday you pick, or every month on a day from 1 to 31 (shorter months use their last day), at an hour and time zone you choose.
  • Which period: the last full period (yesterday, the 7 days before the send day, last month) or the period so far (today, for an evening report).
  • Who: any contacts in Odoo. Email goes to their email address, WhatsApp to their mobile number.
  • Channel: email; WhatsApp, falling back to email if it fails; or both.

Make as many digests as you need, each with its own sections and recipients: a morning report for the owner, a weekly collections report for the accountant.

What is inside the Odoo daily sales report on WhatsApp

Switch each section on or off per digest:

  • Sales: net invoiced sales before tax, number of invoices and credit notes, and the best customers.
  • Money in and out: received from customers, paid to vendors, and the net.
  • Overdue customers: total overdue, how many customers and invoices, the oldest in days, and who owes the most.
  • Bills to pay: late vendor bills and bills due in the next 7 days.
  • Bank and cash: today's balance of every bank and cash journal.
  • Point of sale (with Point of Sale): POS sales, orders, average ticket and refunds, per shop.
  • Stock (with Inventory): products below minimum, out of stock, late deliveries and receipts due today.

Tick Compare with the period before and each figure shows its change in percent. Every number comes from posted accounting in the company currency, so drafts do not count.

The POS session close summary

With Point of Sale installed, a digest can also fire when a POS session closes: sales, orders, refunds, payments per method, and the cash expected, counted and the difference. You choose which shops and who receives it.

Picture a home goods store with two branches: the owner sees each till's cash difference from home. The summary is sent after the closing is saved, so a failed closing sends nothing.

How to set it up

Email

The default, on every edition: Community, Enterprise, Odoo.sh and on-premise. You need a working outgoing mail server and an email address on the company (the sender). Each recipient gets it in their contact's language, Arabic right to left.

WhatsApp through Meta, on Community or Enterprise

The add-on talks directly to Meta's WhatsApp Cloud API with your own WhatsApp Business account. No gateway in between. Five steps, from Settings > Business Digest:

  1. In Meta Business Manager, create a WhatsApp Business account and add your business phone number.
  2. Create a System User with WhatsApp permissions and generate a permanent access token.
  3. Copy the phone number ID, the WhatsApp Business Account ID and the token into Settings.
  4. Create the four templates shown in Settings (report and POS session summary, in English and Arabic), category Utility, with the exact text and sample values, and submit them.
  5. Once Meta approves them, click Check templates, then Send test to your own number, then choose WhatsApp on your digests.

No WhatsApp API number yet? Our WhatsApp Business API setup guide walks through it.

WhatsApp through Odoo's app, on Enterprise

Already use Odoo Enterprise's WhatsApp app? Pick it as the provider. Messages go out from your Odoo WhatsApp account and stay in its history. The four templates are created for you as drafts: open each, choose your account and click Submit for approval.

Either way, recipients whose language is Arabic get the Arabic template, everyone else the English one.

Who it is for

  • Owners who want the numbers on their phone without learning Odoo.
  • Managers moving between branches who want each till's result as it closes.
  • Accountants who would rather a weekly collections report went out by itself.

Price and versions

$49 on the Odoo Apps store for the core add-on. The POS, Stock and Odoo WhatsApp parts install themselves when you have those apps and carry no separate price. Available for Odoo 17, 18, 19 and 20.

Meta bills your own WhatsApp Business account for template messages at its own rates; nothing goes through us. See WhatsApp API pricing for how that works.

What it does not do

  • Meta only confirms it accepted the message. If delivery fails later, for example a number without WhatsApp, that shows in Meta's WhatsApp Manager, not in Odoo.
  • The WhatsApp message is a short summary, one line per section. The full lists (best customers, overdue customers, products to reorder) are in the email, so choose WhatsApp and email if you want both.
  • No quotations or sales orders section, no PDF attachment, and no per-recipient sections within one digest. Need different sections for different people? Make a second digest.
  • Overdue customers and bills are as of today, not as of the end of the period.
  • POS sales sit in the POS section, not in Sales, because POS sessions do not create invoices.

Quick questions

Do I need Enterprise for WhatsApp?

No. Sending through Meta's Cloud API works on Community and Enterprise. Odoo's WhatsApp app is an extra option for Enterprise only.

What happens if WhatsApp fails?

On the "WhatsApp, email if it fails" channel, a failed send (not set up, template not approved, wrong number, a Meta error) goes by email instead, and Sent Reports records why.

Who can create digests and see the reports?

Only Business Digest managers, which by default means accounting managers and administrators. In a multi-company setup, each company has its own digests and figures.
